Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Guesstimate iPhone app (“Guesstimate”), a product of Bayou Browns LLC (“we”), collects, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we keep your business data so the app can sync and send your documents. We do not sell it, we do not show ads, and the app contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.

What we collect

• Account. Your email address and a password, handled by Amazon Cognito. We never see your password.
• Your business data. Business details, clients (names, emails, phone numbers, addresses you enter), items and prices, estimates, invoices, payments you record, expenses, schedules, notes and settings. This is stored on your phone and synced to our servers so it is backed up and available on your devices.
• Contacts you pick. If you add a client from your contacts, the app opens the iPhone contact picker. Only the one contact you choose is read (its name, email, phone and address). The app never reads or uploads your address book.
• Files. Your logo, signatures (yours and your clients’), sketches, job photos and receipt photos you add. These are stored in Amazon S3.
• Push notification token. If you allow notifications, your device’s Apple push token, used through Amazon SNS to tell you about events such as a client accepting an estimate.
• Purchases. If you subscribe to Pro, the App Store receipt/transaction information Apple gives us, so we can confirm your subscription. Apple handles payment; we never receive your card details.
• Usage counters. Counts needed to apply plan limits (for example sends this month, storage used, AI scans used and their cost). Not your browsing or behavior in the app.

Where it is stored

Our servers run on Amazon Web Services in the United States (region us-east-2, Ohio). Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is limited to your account.

How it is used and shared

• Sending documents. When you send an estimate, invoice or receipt by email, we deliver it with Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) to the address you choose.
• Customer links. Each sent document gets a private, hard-to-guess link so your client can view, sign, accept or download it without an account. Anyone with that link can open that one document, so share it only with your client. Links do not expire, but deleting the document or your account makes the link stop working, and an estimate past its valid-until date can still be viewed but no longer accepted.
• AI receipt scanning (optional). Available to Pro subscribers where enabled. Only when you choose to scan a receipt, the receipt image is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to read the vendor, date and amounts. Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train its models by default. We do not store or log the image text from the scan; we keep only the token count and cost. If you never scan, nothing is sent to Anthropic.
• Service providers. Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, email, notifications, sign-in), Apple (App Store and push notifications) and Anthropic (AI scanning only, as above). They process data only to provide those services.
• Legal. We may disclose information if required by law.

We do not sell or rent your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Your clients’ information

You enter your clients’ details and are responsible for having a lawful reason to do so. We use them only to provide the app to you, for example to email a document you send.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to More › Settings › Account › Delete account. This permanently erases your account and all of your data on our servers: every business, document, payment, photo and file, and your sign-in. All customer links stop working. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

Guesstimate is a business tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.

Your rights

You can view and edit your data in the app, export it (CSV/PDF), and delete it at any time. Depending on where you live you may have further rights to access, correct or delete your data; contact us to exercise them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
